Yesterday evening I wanted to go to the movies and watch " Love in the time of cholera", But Jeeej's facial expressions made me feel bad for he wanted to watch Beowulf instead! Well, after we had a great lunch at Sushi boat upon my request, I couldn't say NO to his movie choice! I was just preparing myself to make fun of the movie after we see it, just like some other "stupid" movies he likes to watch.
To Get me more excited about it, Jeeej got the tickets for the 3D show! AND IT WAS WORTH IT!!
I knew it had some scary scenes, so wearing the special eye glasses made it even scarier!
I jumped of my seat a couple of times while watching -or maybe more :p- but I just can't describe how much I liked it! I loved it!! I could go actually watch it again tomorrow, or maybe today :pp
The story, the acting, everything about it was great!!

Acupuncture in thanksgiving...
Today I had an appointment with the dentist, and she told me that the wound is healing well, and that there's no infection at all!
But why do I still have this constant headache?! It's not as bad and severe as before, but it just wont go away!
Everything seem to make my teeth really sensitive...hot, cold or even warm food! breathing using my mouth, sleeping on my right cheek, talking, chewing the softest food ever! everything!
I've been away from my blog, because I didn't want to mention and complain about the pain I was going through last week, it's been horrible! Only Allah knows that I've never experienced such pain in my whole life...headache was just intolerable...
The few days following the extraction, I was taking mild Tylenol only, because I'm pregnant! Then I couldn't handle the pain so I started taking pain killers...Then they were not helping me at all...I could barely sleep, eat or live one single day normally! I drove Maioush crazy calling her at random hours after midnight asking for solutions!
I once called mama, at 4 am, and I just regret doing that, for she got really worried that day...so I just decided not to complain to her again or even blog about it...
Until thanksgiving came...I was so excited about meeting the whole family again over dinner, but at the same time I was worried I would be the drama queen there, looking pale and tired!
Once my FIL saw me and heard about my painkillers, he got worried and said: Time for treatment!
He treated me twice while we were in Auburn! Acupuncture is the best! I felt a major change, and the pain started to vanish!
I was treated by him before, but this time, I could feel the pain of the needles and the burning Moxa! Pain was good this time! It made me feel the difference!
The Turkey and the whole dinner in Sacramento, I wish I can repeat it all, for I wasn't able to eat a bite of it! It looked and smelled yummi, but all I could dig in was the fatty mashed potatoes...
Happy memories :((
The very next day. I was feeling much better, so we went hiking with my in-laws, to the hidden falls, and it felt great...
I'm doing much better now...I still have the headache and it's not leaving me, not yet! But I was told it's normal, and it's a part of healing...

Mmmmmm Chocolate?!?!

Since I came here, I stopped eating chocolate bars, my favourite in Amman was snickers! But here, I tried it once and that's it!!
With pregnancy I don't enjoy eating sweets at all, including chocolate of course...
Whenever I get a box of chocolate from my students' parents, I think of my Jeeej right away...because he loves chocolate and I love the fact that he does :D
The only kind of chocolate I would eat and would satisfy me is Truffles! I love it, it's so rich and so yummii...I got 1 kg box of it, and the thought of eating a whole Kg of chocolate by myself -because Jeeej doesn't like it!- scared me, so I gave half of it to my friend Amal here, she loves it too...
To chocolate lovers, here are some pictures I've taken in a chocolate factory in Las Vegas...Enjoy reading and enjoy chocolate:D
The sweetness of the word itself caused me some toothache..

The Boss with No Wisdom!
I had my TWO wisdom teeth extracted today! Both on the right side! I only thought they would THINK about extracting one of them, but they ended up taking the two!
It's so painful, and I hope all this pain goes away really quick!!
I was sooo scared through the "operation". I swear I could hear my heart beats, They couldn't put me to sleep because I'm pregnant, and they couldn't use the laughing gas too! It didn't take a lot of time to do it. I thought it's going to be worse, but Thank God it was OK!
Jeeej is being really extra nice taking care of me, I just wish he isn't sick these days...Instead of me taking care of him, he's doing it for me:(
Tomorrow, My manager at school is going to Jordan for 3 weeks to see her sick father, so I'll have to cover her place...I'll be the boss the coming weeks, I'll be the Boss:)
But to be a good boss like her, I need to be full of energy...I need to be awake...I need to recover soon...inshallah:)
That's why I cancelled my three classes tomorrow...

Teeth, Clean and shiny :D
They used to say, that when a woman gets pregnant, she should expect losing a tooth or more! Because the baby inside takes all the Calcium in her body...But that was long time ago...
While growing up, I have had problems with my teeth, but nothing major...even my upper wisdom teeth came out smoothly, and I didn't have to pull them out...
When I got pregnant, my teeth became really sensitive and I couldn't chew properly, my gum started bleeding and got irritated, and I think this is what caused my weight loss at the beginning!
I went to see the dentist, and she told me that THIS IS NORMAL! It happens to so many pregnant women! I felt better hearing that...she just asked me to wash my mouth with salt and water after brushing my teeth...
Then she told me something really interesting! She said that I need to take extra care of my teeth while being pregnant, and that doctors -nowadays- are recommending deep teeth cleaning a couple of times during pregnancy, because it helps bringing a healthy baby, with healthy teeth :)
Today was my first appointment, and I had my teeth deeply cleaned! Feels good, it's way better than the way they do it in Amman! More professional! My teeth now are clean and shiny:D
I'm having a problem with my lower wisdom tooth these days, The gum around it hurts me really bad :( and my appointment with the surgeon is in two days to decide whether I should have it pulled out or not...
If yes, it means I will have an operation because it's impacted :(
The problem is that I'm pregnant and I have to get an X-ray for my tooth, which is kind of "BAD"!
But treating it now is better than having it infected later on, because the medicines to treat infection will be worse than the medication I shall be taking now for treating it!
It's scary...
Good luck to me :(
For the record: I was invited to ma7ashi today (kusa and wara2 dawali), at Ghadir's house! She is 6 months pregnant now! It must have been hard for her to make it for me...but I WAS CRAVING!!! and it was a blast!!! oh, and tabbouleh too:)
I forgot about my clean teeth while eating, I enjoyed it:) Thanks Ghadir!!

Names :s :s :s
It confuses me sometimes when I think of the meanings of my students' names. I teach students from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan too.
It amazes me how the parents make sure they name their kids "Islamic" names. They choose the names from words in the Quran. They don't pronounce them right, so I do my best to teach the parents and their kids how to pronounce it perfectly, the parents like this, but most of the students find it hard to just have a totally "NEW" name for themselves! Well, at least I call them with the right pronunciation:)
Some names are really nice, like Raek =Ra7eeq, Arini =show me, Najma, Zakareyyah, Zuneirah, Zainah, 3afra2, Fardousah, Tawseef, Naheel, raihan... but some other names are really strange...
I have a student, her name is Naimal! I was confused when I first heard it, and the mother told me "proudly" that she picked it from the Quran!
So I kept thinking about it...What could it be?!
Yesterday, After I taught Naimal I asked her mom about it's meaning, and whether she can show it to me in the Quran! So she brings the Quran and shows me the ayah : "ni3mal mawla wa ni3mal naseer"!!!
so her name "Naimal" is actually "(ni3ma al)-mawla"!! and it's translation into English is "The best ..." So she thinks or actually believes that the name means "the best"!!!
I spent sometime explaining to her that her daughter's name -by itself- has no meaning!! she found it really hard to understand, and she wants to talk to the Arabic teacher at the school I work at!! she was shocked :(
and the big surprise, when she told me that her son's name is "Muta3al" which is one of Allah's SWT 99 names!! I didn't know it's OK to name people with Allah's names. Her explanation was : since it doesn't have "al" or "the" at the beginning then it's OK!! Is that right?!?!
Because I have a student who's name is Musabbir!! His mom told me it's one of Allah's names!! I didn't say a word when she told me, I thought to myself :Interesting!!
Then I heard her once calling her daughter loudly at their home : Muhayminooooo!!!!
NOW, IS THIS REALLY ALLOWED?!?!?!?
Another student, his name is Albab Nour!! And his middle name is Rasheek! I found it funny, because it means: Someone in shape!! He told me that it means: Wise person!!! Is this right?!?!
what else...oh yea...
Last year at school, I was working on the students' certificates and I was asked to type them in Arabic! So one girl's name was : Hera, in English! So when I typed it in Arabic, I typed it as: 7eerah! And I felt sorry for her, because her name means: Confusion!
She took her certificate, and her parents didn't complain about wrong spelling or anything, because simply they don't speak or read Arabic!
Later on, this year, I asked her mom about the meaning of Hera...and she told me, it's the cave where the prophet Mohammad Peace be upon him, used to pray!!!
So i was like: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH....you mean 7iraaaaaa2!!
loooooooooooool....

A Whole Week Off :D
Today is my second day of the WHOLE WEEK OFF!
When I started calling the parents few days ago, to cancel the classes, I was so hesitant...
Feeling really bad for my students, whom have been working really hard to finish the books they have before I deliver the baby...
Some of the parents were really nice and supportive, saying that I should relax and just enjoy what I'm going through... Because they've seen how tired I get while teaching these days.
Some other parents were *** enough to ask me :"When can you make up for the missing classes?!?!"
Come oooon!! Why would I ask for sometime off if I'm thinking of making up ?!?! To add more stress on my shoulders!?
But anyways...
It's my second day of my WHOLE WEEK OFF, and I am loving it:)
I'm a little bit sick, so thank God I'm not teaching these days:)
